“Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club” TV Anime Season 2 Announced

The “Love Live” franchise recently announced a second season of the TV anime “Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club”. Season 2 is set to premiere in 2022.

The announcement was made during the “Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club 3rd Live! School Idol Festival～The beginning of the dream～” live streamed concert. No additional details were released besides a teaser visual with the news.

The first season of “Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club” premiered in October 2020 and is currently streaming on Funimation in the US.

Funimation Synopsis: Nijigasaki High School is known for their diverse subjects and the freedom they give to students. Second-year student Yu Takasaki has been turned on to the charms of school idols, so she knocks on the door of the School Idol Club with her friend, Ayumu Uehara. Sometimes friends, sometimes rivals, the members of this club each contribute their own thoughts and motivations to the group.

The “Love Live!” franchise is a multimedia project that includes anime, manga, light novels, music and video games. “Love Live! School Idol Project” TV anime premiered in 2013 with a 13-episode first season. The series continued with a second season in 2014. “Love Live! The School Idol Movie”, which was a sequel to the TV anime, was released in 2015.

“Love Live! Sunshine!!” TV anime Season 1 premiered in 2016. Followed by Season 2 premiered in 2017 and then “Love Live! Sunshine!! The School Idol Movie Over the Rainbow” anime film in 2019. Seasons 1 and 2 can currently be steamed on Crunchyroll and Funimation in subtitles and English dubbing. The anime series and film are also available on blu-ray.

The new TV anime “Love Live! Superstar!!” is set to premiere July 2021 in Japan. No US distributor has been announced as of yet.
