“Love Live! Superstar!!” Anime Episodes Delayed Due To Olympics

The official Twitter for the “Love Live!” franchise announced that the broadcast of episode 3 of the new TV anime, “Love Live! Superstar!!, will be delayed until August 8, 2021. The delay is due to the Olympics and Paralympics being covered on the local NHK E-TV Channel in Japan that airs the series.

According to the posting, the July 25th, August 1st and the August 29th broadcasts may be suspended. No official word yet from Funimation, who is streaming the series outside of Japan, but it is assumed that the delay will also affect the simulcast schedule.

Episode 1 of the new music anime was released on July 12, 2021 on Funimation, after being delayed one day from its original broadcast in Japan. The latest in the “Love Live!” franchise is a part of Funimation’s Summer 2021 anime simulcast season lineup.

The “Love Live!” franchise is a multimedia project that includes anime, manga, light novels, music and video games. “Love Live! School Idol Project” TV anime premiered in 2013 with a 13-episode first season. The series continued with a second season in 2014. “Love Live! The School Idol Movie”, which was a sequel to the TV anime, was released in 2015.

“Love Live! Sunshine!!” TV anime Season 1 premiered in 2016. Followed by Season 2 premiered in 2017 and then “Love Live! Sunshine!! The School Idol Movie Over the Rainbow” anime film in 2019. Seasons 1 and 2 can currently be steamed on Crunchyroll and Funimation in subtitles and English dubbing. The anime series and film are also available on blu-ray.

“Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club” TV anime premiered in October 2020 and is currently streaming on Funimation. A second season was recently announced to premiere in 2022.
