Funimation To Stream “Akebi’s Sailor Uniform” Anime

Streamer Funimation announced today the simulcast rights to the upcoming slice-of-life anime “Akebi’s Sailor Uniform”. The series is set to premiere on January 8, 2021 and will be a part of Funimation’s Winter 2022 Anime Season lineup.

Funimation will simulcast the series to audiences in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Colombia, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand in subtitles.

Funimation Synopsis: It’s Komichi Akebi’s first year of junior high and she has her heart set on one thing: Robai Private Academy’s sailor uniform. As the next chapter of her life gets closer, she dreams of all the exciting new experiences she’ll get to have—school lunches, classes, club activities, and of course, making lots of friends! With her favorite outfit on, Komichi feels ready for anything.

Known in Japan as “Akebi-chan no Sailor Fuku”, the anime is based on the manga by Hiro. CloverWorks is handling the animation for the series with Miyuki Kuroki directing.

The characters and cast include: Manatsu Murakami as “Komichi Akebi”, Sora Amamiya as “Erika Kizaki”, Akari Kitō as “Tōko Usagihara”, Shion Wakayama as “Tomono Kojō”, Akira Sekine as “Kei Tanigawa”, Shizuka Ishigami as “Hitomi Washio”. Yui Ishikawa as “Riri Minakami”, Momo Asakura as “Hotaru Hiraiwa”, Azusa Tadokoro as “Riona Shijō”, Miku Itō as “Neko Kamimoku”, Mariya Ise as “Ai Tatsumori”, Shiori Mikami as “Ayumi Tōgeguchi”, Mitsuho Kambe as “Oshizu Hebimori”, Kaede Hondo as “Yasuko Nawashiro”, Haruka Shiraishi as “Mai Togano Konomi”, and Kohara as “Minoru Ohkuma”.

The manga was launched in 2016 on Tonari no Young Jump’s website in Japan and currently has eight volumes in print. No word as yet if the manga will be published in English.
