“Akebi’s Sailor Uniform” Anime Reveals 12 Additional Characters

The official website for “Akebi's Sailor Uniform” (Akebi-chan no Sailor Fuku) revealed twelve additional characters for the upcoming anime. The slice-of-life series is set to premiere in January 2022.

Previously announced characters and cast include: Manatsu Murakami as “Komichi Akebi”, Sora Amamiya as “Erika Kizaki”, Akari Kitō as “Tōko Usagihara”, and Shion Wakayama as “Tomono Kojō”.

New characters and cast include: Akira Sekine as “Kei Tanigawa”, Shizuka Ishigami as “Hitomi Washio”. Yui Ishikawa as “Riri Minakami”, Momo Asakura as “Hotaru Hiraiwa”, Azusa Tadokoro as “Riona Shijō”, Miku Itō as “Neko Kamimoku”, Mariya Ise as “Ai Tatsumori”, Shiori Mikami as “Ayumi Tōgeguchi”, Mitsuho Kambe as “Oshizu Hebimori”, Kaede Hondo as “Yasuko Nawashiro”, Haruka Shiraishi as “Mai Togano Konomi”, and Kohara as “Minoru Ohkuma”.

Based on the manga by Hiro, the story follows Komichi Akebi, who lives in the countryside and has gain entrance to a prestigious middle school for girls. She dreams of wearing the school’s sailor uniform and making friends. Miyuki Kuroki will be directing the series with CloverWorks handling the animation.

The manga was launched in 2016 on Tonari no Young Jump’s website in Japan and currently has eight volumes in print. No word as yet if the manga will be published in English.
