“Selection Project” TV Anime To Stream On Funimation October 2021
Funimation announced on Monday the streaming rights to the new idol TV anime “Selection Project”. The series is set to premiere in October 2021 and will be a part of Funimation’s Fall 2021 Anime Season Lineup.
According to Funimation, “Selection Project” follows a group of nine determined girls as they enter the 7th Annual “Selection Project”, a television show where they’ll audition to become idols…and pursue their dreams!
From KADOKAWA and studio Doga Kobo, “Selection Project” stars Saku Mizuno as “Rena Hananoi”, Hinaki Yano as “Suzune Miyama”, Ruri Arai as “Nagisa Imau”, Mizuna Shirakawa as “Uta Koizumi”, Miharu Hanai as “Shiori Yamaga”, Shino Shimoji as “Mako Toma” and Hina Yomiya as “Nodoka Yagi”. Daisuke Hiramaki (Asteroid in Love) will be directing.
“Project Selection” Website Synopsis: Held every summer, the biggest gateway for girls aiming to become idols, "SELECTION PROJECT". It is a longing stage for all girls who strive to become idols. And the place where the legendary idol "Amazawa Akari" was born. Suzune Miyama is also one who longed for such a dream stage. Having been sick since childhood, she listened to the song of the light many times in her bed in the hospital room.

In the last summer of junior high school, Suzune decides her challenge to her 7th "SELECTION PROJECT" to make her dream come true. The girls who challenge SELECTION are all children who have a strong feeling that is second to none, accumulated efforts, and extraordinary charm. Still, only a few stars are selected from among the thousands of candidates. Now, the hot and harsh battle of the girls begins to make their dreams come true.
Kadokawa originally announced the "Idol x Audition x Reality Show" multimedia project in December 2019. Kо̄ji Azuma launched a new manga for the project on Square Enix's Manga Up! app in Japan on July 11, 2021 and the story follows Akari Amazawa, the first idol to get her start through the “Selection Project” reality show.
