Yuri Anime “Whisper Me a Love Song” To Stream On HIDIVE

HIDIVE announced that they have acquired exclusive rights to the upcoming Yuri anime “Whisper Me a Love Song”. The streamer will simulcast the anime as it airs in Japan as part of their Spring 2024 Anime Season. The series is set to be released on April 13, 2024.

Based on the manga by Eku Takeshima, “Whisper Me a Love Song” (Sasayaku You ni Koi wo Utau), the anime stars Hana Shimano as “Himari Kino” and Asami Seto as “Yori Asanagi”. Additional cast and characters include Mikako Komatsu as “Aki Mizuguchi”, Konomi Kohara as “Mari Tsutsui”, Ai Kakuma as “Kaori Tachibana”, Yuna Nemoto as “Shiho Izumi”, Reina Ueda as “Momoka Satomiya”, Chika Anzai as “Hajime Amasawa” and Aoi Koga as “Miki Mizuguchi”. The songs will be performed by artists Kana Sasakura (Yori Asanagi) and Sui Mizukami (Shiho Izumi). The anime's opening theme song "Follow your arrows" will be performed by the anime's band SSGIRLS with Kana Sasakura on vocals and Hana Shimano is performing the ending theme "Gifty".

HIDIVE “Whisper Me a Love Song” Synopsis: After performing a song at her school’s opening ceremony, musician Yori Asanagi receives an apparent love confession from freshman Himari Kino. But just as Yori decides she wants to return Himari’s feelings, Himari reveals that she did not “love” her, but “admires” her! But you can’t unring a bell once struck, and Yori is determined to make Himari fall for her, not just her music. Will their hearts ever beat as one, or will their love fall out of tune?

In December 2023, it was announced that the anime would be delayed from January 2024 to April 2024. According to the official website, the anime was delayed “due to various circumstances” and the director was changed “due to health reasons”. Akira Mano replaced Xin Ya Cai as the anime's director. Yokohama Animation Lab is now credited with production of the animation with Cloud Hearts. Hiroki Uchida is overseeing the series scripts, and Minami Yoshida is designing the characters. The art design is being handled by Risa Iraha with Sōshi Kuwashima as art director. The CG director is Keiichi Eda with Takahiro Kita as compositing director of photography. Sound direction is being handled by Fumiyuki Go and Nozomi Nakatani with music by Hiroshi Sasaki and Wataru Maeguchi.

Manga artist Eku Takeshima launched the manga in Ichijinsha's iconic Comic Yuri Hime magazine in 2019. The on-going series currently has 9 volumes. According to the publisher, the manga has 500,000 copies in circulation.

Kodansha USA is publishing the manga in English in print and digitally. There are currently 8 volumes released. Volume 8 was released on March 26, 2024.

Kodansha’s “Whisper Me A Love Song” Synopsis: Bubbly, energetic first-year high school student Himari falls head over heels for her senpai Yori after hearing her band perform on the first day of school. Himari tells Yori she just loves her, and, to Himari’s surprise, Yori says she loves Himari back! But when Himari realizes that she and her senpai are feeling two different kinds of love, she begins to ask herself what “love” really means…
