Netflix’s “Kakegurui Twin” Anime Announces August 4 Premiere With New Visual And Trailer

Streamer Netflix released new key art and a trailer along with the announcement of the premiere date for the upcoming anime “Kakegurui Twin”. The “Kakegurui” prequel anime is set to premiere worldwide on August 4, 2022.

According to Netflix, the anime “is a spin-off series focusing on the protagonist Mary Saotome, and is based on the popular manga serialized in Gangan Joker, which also runs the main story. Set one year before the arrival of Yumeko Jabami at Hyakkao Private Academy, a normal, everyday girl named Mary Saotome transfers to the school. But how does this regular schoolgirl transform into a compulsive gambler?…

Determined to climb up the social ladder, Mary Saotome invests everything she has into what her elite high school values most: high stakes gambling.”

Minami Tanaka is reprising the role of “Meari Saotome” from the original “Kakegurui” anime. The newly announced cast members are: Rina Honnizumi as “Tsuzura Hanatemari”, Yō Taichi as “Yukimi Togakushi”, Yuko Kaida as “Sachiko Juraku”, Aoi Koga as “Mikura Sado”, Seiichirō Yamashita as “Aoi Mibuomi”, and Rie Takahashi as “Sakura Miharutaki”.

Many staff members from the original “Kakegurui” series are returning for the new anime. MAPPA is producing the anime with Yuichiro Hayashi as Chief Director and Kaori Makita as director.

Based on the “Kakegurui - Compulsive Gambler” manga, “Kakegurui” Season 1 premiered in 2017 and season 2 in 2019. The anime is currently available to stream on Netflix and purchase from Sentai Filmworks on Blu-ray.

Publisher Yen Press is currently releasing “Kakegurui Twin” and “Kakegurui - Compulsive Gambler” in English.
