“I'm in Love with the Villainess” Yuri TV Anime Releases Main Trailer

The official website for the “I’m in Love with the Villainess” TV anime released the main trailer for the upcoming anime. The Yuri anime is set to be released on October 2, 2023.

The trailer (above) previews the opening theme song "Raise Y/Our Hands!!" and ending theme song "O.C. ~Optimum Combination~" by main cast members. The anime stars Yu Serizawa as “Rae Taylor” and Karin Nanami as “Claire Francois”.

In addition, it was announced along with the cover art (pictured below) that the single with both theme songs will be released on November 15, 2023.

Based on the light novels by author Inori, “I'm in Love with the Villainess” (Watashi no Oshi wa Akuyaku Reijō) is being directed by Hideaki Oba at studio Platinum Vision. Ayumu Hisao will handle the series composition with character designs by Youko Satou. The anime music will be by Noriyuki Asakura and Hajime Takakuwa will serves as sound director. Additional cast includes Aimi as “Misha Jur”, Ikumi Hasegawa as “Lene Aurousseau”, Sara Matsumoto as “Loretta Kugret”, and Minami Kurisaka as “Pipi Barlier”.

“I'm in Love with the Villainess” premiered episodes 1 and 2 at Anime Expo 2023 in July 2023 as part of Crunchyroll’s Simulcast Premieres. It was previously announced that Crunchyroll will stream the anime as part of their Fall 2023 Anime Season.

Author Inori launched the series on the Japanese novel self-publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō in January 2018. GL Bunko began publishing the story in digital volumes in February 2019. The light novels had a total of 5 volumes. Artist Hanagata drew the illustrations for the novels. Seven Seas Entertainment published the series in English.

Seven Seas “I’m in Love with the Villainess” Synopsis: Ordinary office worker Ohashi Rei wakes up in the body of the protagonist of her favorite otome game, Revolution. To her delight, the first person to greet her is also her favorite character, Claire Francois—the main antagonist of the story! Now, Rei is determined to romance Claire instead of the game’s male leads. But how will her villainous ladylove react to this new courtship?!

A manga adaptation was launched in Ichijinsha's Comic Yuri Hime magazine in June 2020 with artist AONOSHIMO. There are currently 6 volumes in print in Japan. Seven Seas Entertainment is also publishing the manga in English. Volume 5 is set to be release in English on October 24, 2023.

Author Inori continued to expand the series by launching a spinoff story titled “Heimin no Kuse ni Namaikina!” on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in May 2021. GL Bunko later released the story in a digital novel volume in February 2022. There are currently 4 volumes. Seven Seas Entertainment also licensed the novel spinoff. “I'm in Love with the Villainess: She's so Cheeky for a Commoner” Volume 1 was released in English on February 28, 2023.
